KDE 4.8 just got released and that means Okular 0.14 also got released!
First of all I'd like to thank everyone that has done a git commit in the KDE 4.7 → KDE 4.8 trip, here the list in alphabetical order: Aaron Seigo, Aleix Pol, Christopher Reichert, Dario Freddi, David Faure, David Palacio, Elvis Stansvik, Frederik Schwarzer, Geoffry Song, Jiri Baum, Kevin Kofler, Martin Ueding, Michal Svec, Michel Ludwig, Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman Mamun, Montel Laurent, Niels Ole Salscheider, Patrick von Reth, Philip Muskovac, Pino Toscano, Ralf Habacker, Stephen Anthony, Yuri Chornoivan.
That's more than 20 people! Awesome :-)
This release introduces new features like improved text selection in documents with columns, table selection tool, LaTex rendering in annotations, improved embedded support (for use in e.g. Kile), better layouting for facing pages, smarter screensaver/powermanagement handling, improved page label support, default zoom configuration, improved Landscape printing, etc.
You can find a non complete list of bugs and features in bugzilla.
And best of all there's already new features in the pipeline for the next release :-)
Let's keep the ball rolling!
Those are really great news, thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteOkular always amazes me as an app, whose function you would think would be small enough to be unimpressive, and yet... I am always surprised by the great features I keep finding hidden away (like recently discovering it can open .pptx powerpoint files?!!)
ReplyDeleteThis new set of enhancements is the icing on the cake.
Great work, everyone. Okular is pure quality.
its nice to see that community problems has gone and project is thriving...
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
ReplyDeleteWhat about a better printing support? IIRC there was some GSoC project to improve printing support in KDE, but still we have same system (e.g. can't choose particular pages to print).
Apart from the printing issue, it would be really great if we could have more advanced pdf features such as annotations to the file that would show up in all viewers and filling forms, etc. Overall though, Okular rocks!
ReplyDeleteWhat about LaTeX live preview? Is it possible with Kile?
ReplyDelete@Last anonymous: That is a Kile feature, the pieces needed on Okular are there but you'll need a new Kile for that to work.
ReplyDelete@Albert oh I see, thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing work on text selection. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Okular is an excellent software that I use every day!
