KUbuntu 8.04 released with rock solid 3.5.9 goodness...

...unless you try to automount USB devices, because that'll give you a deadlocked kded! HORRAY! It's quite interesting to see how a bug caused for a patch to use LUKS is not fixed or the patch reverted when such an used feature has such a big bug like deadlocking kded...

Nice and sad to see my Bugreport on Planet KDE;)
For me it's really the last thing that dosn't work in hardy!
Thanks for making it popular.

oh. so they have not fixed it... This bug is there for a long long time. Hope someone posts fix into "hurdy-updates".

This is exactly why I don't like distros which are liberal about applying third party patches to packages.

That being said, LUKS support for KDE is something that's been requested for almost 3 years now.

With the rising importance of encryption due to a more mobile lifestyle, I can see how Kubuntu would risk breakage by applying this patch.

Moral of the story: patching at distro level is bad, ignoring heavily requested features is worse.

It makes me sad to see people using planet just to be wholly negative. Anyway, fix needs testing in hardy-proposed.
