Linux App Summit 2019 schedule is out!

We published the Linux App Summit 2019 schedule last week.

We have a bunch of interesting talks (sadly we had to leave almost 40 almost as interesting talks out, we had lots of awesome submissions!) ranging from flatpak and snaps to how product management is good for Free Software projects with some thought provoking talks thrown in to make us think what's the future of our platform.

I am going and you should totally come too!

The attendance is free but please register at https://events.linuxappsummit.org/

KDE 4.11 releases are around the corner. Let's cellebrate!

At KDE España we have started the ball rolling to cellebrate the release for 4.11 by starting the organization of the Barcelona event. Right now it feels pretty lonely at http://community.kde.org/Promo/Events/Release_Parties/4.11.

If you are interested in attending the Barcelona event don't hesitate voting at the doodle to decide the day!

KDE Frameworks 5 day at Barcelona

This last Saturday, Alex Fiestas, Martin Klapetek, Miquel Canes, Aleix Pol and me spent the whole day acquainting ourselves with the KDE Frameworks 5 codebase and starting to work on some of the tasks described in the Qt 5.1 and kdelibs cleanup epics.

It was a great day but i still have to say I find myself a bit lost in Frameworks land, we'll have to repeat it soon to get more in the loop :-)

I'd like to thank Blue Systems for hosting us in their office in Barcelona.

4.9 Dinner in Barcelona (4th August)

Following our tradition, the KDE-ers of Barcelona (and anybody from anywhere that wants to drop by) will celebrate the release of 4.9 with a dinner. This time will be on 4th of August at 21:30 in the Hola Manito Restaurant in Gràcia.

Of course everyone is invited to come and remember that if it's too far for you, you can always organize something in your own city, according to the KDE users map there is people around with a common interest!

Reboot!

After approximately a year and a half living in Dublin i just moved back to L'Hospitalet: It's been an interesting time but at the end I missed Barcelona too much. So here I am, back in the city I like and unemployed :D So if anyone from Barcelona is looking for a talented C++/Qt/KDE developer have a look at my LinkedIn profile and if interested drop me a note at aacid@kde.org. I might also be interested in consulting from Barcelona to non Barcelona companies but at the moment I'm not considering moving again.

How to kill tourism

So today i was coming back to Dublin from my weekend trip to my home Barcelona and in my trip i saw a man from the check-in desk be rude to a group of women, he probably had his reasons but if your work is facing the public you should never be rude to anyone; a woman telling the customs officer "My passport was stolen"; a boarding message in a spoken english that was so bad that people did not understand that boarding would be done for rows 10 to 27 first; the men seating besides me speaking on how specially Barcelona felt to them and how they would recommend the visit but put a remark that you should be careful with petty crime.

Probably today was a bad luck day for me but if 4 of 4 things i realized were bad, something wrong we are doing, the problem is that fixing this is not easy so you can put this blog in the random rant/head dump section.
